Print Yatra

Started on 3rd July, 2010 this unique and one of its kind project was meant to spread the message of brotherhood and knowledge of latest developments in the trade. Initially the purpose of print yatra was to promote the upcoming exhibition “Print Art” 2010 but as we visited the printers in the neighbouring regions we found they were not united & there was no association. It was difficult for us to gather the printers on a common platform to promote our exhibition. OPA decided to invite the printers to work jointly for the development of the trade and to form associations for a better and effective network and tackle the problems of the industry jointly. The OPA team worked hard & visited as many cities & towns as they possibly could. A total of 4200 kilometres were travelled in the first leg & five states were covered i.e. Punjab, Haryana, H.P., Rajasthan, Jammu & Kashmir and Chandigarh.Later on in 2011 some more cities were covered. In the year 2012 OPA started extending its wings further and Print Yatra reached Uttar Pradesh in collaboration with Delhi Printers’ Association covering the cities of Mathura, Agra, Kanpur and Lucknow etc. Now it has been decided that OPA and DPA will work jointly on this project to cover MP and UP in the time to come. It is worth mentioning that due to these efforts 35 new printers’ association emerged in the region and about 11 more are in the pipeline. Print yatra served our purpose of promoting “print art” but it served a greater mission of uniting the printers of the region for the betterment and overall development of the industry.

Just like “Kumbh Mela” was started where all the “munis” &“rishis” could meet once in 12 years to disseminate their knowledge, we hope to see the printers one day unite from all the regions of the country on a common platform and discuss the intricacies of trade.
